Herbert Zangs (1924-2003) occupies a solitary position in German post-war art history. 
 Artworks from Herbert Zangs made rapid price development after his death, meanwhile the average price has increased fifteenfold.

The participant of documenta 6 (1977), who was during his lifetime well known as an egocentric and unpredictable personality,
was commemorated by his long-time friend Günther Grass in the award-winning novel Die Blechtrommel with the character of the painter Lankes. 

Herbert Zang's artwork Untitled (Rechenzeichen) comes directly from the artist's estate.

The piece is one of the first objects of his so-called Rechenzeichen-Bilder, Herbert Zang's started to create from 1953/54.
